Promoting Professional Volunteer Resource Management

Greetings KAAAV Members:

Here are some opportunities for education for the upcoming months.

1.  From PAVRO: PAVRO is celebrating 20 years of excellence in volunteer engagement on May 3rd and 4th.
PAVRO (Professional Association of Volunteer Leaders Ontario) is your provincial organization committed to advocating for excellence in Volunteer Management.  Join us as we celebrate 20 years of excellence and impact in the voluntary sector, at our annual professional development and networking conference.

Meet other Leaders in Volunteer Engagement, learn new skills to enhance your volunteer program and your personal growth.  Learn about current trends and issues facing volunteer engagement, and how you can respond effectively and proactively.  Join your peers in strategizing for a stronger and stable sector.

2.  Certification and Recertification packages are now available at PAVRO Certification Application

Earning a Certificate in Volunteer Resources Management (CVRM) is validation of your professionalism, experience and commitment to the field of Volunteer Engagement.  Many employers recognize the importance of certification as a requirement in our field.

  • Completed certification packages (with accompanying paperwork) must be submitted between October 2017 and January 2018 in order to qualify for presentations at this year’s Annual PAVRO Conference in early May.
  • Submissions received after January 15th may not be eligible to receive certification at Conference if edits required.
  • Adjudicators will review and comment on submissions received between January 15th to February 28th, allowing time for edits to be made if required.
  • Communication of results to authors can be expected in the month of March 2018.
  • Questions regarding the process or personal qualifications may be made in writing to the certification coordinator at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

A new option this year is for Certification applicants to be matched through the PAVRO Mentor Program with a CVRM PAVRO member to provide support through the process.   Application deadline for the Mentor Program has been extended to October 31st, 2017.
Once CVRM designation received, Recertification is required every three years giving you the incentive to continue your education and stay current in best practices in Volunteer Engagement.

 3. Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement (CCVI)

A new training program for the Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement (CCVI) has been launched in Ontario and is FREE to early applicants. This new program is available both online and in-person at various communities across the province, and aligns perfectly with your goals to help support volunteers and build great and caring communities. Link is https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc8NrSdvyMTMuMtwry3XaN9FMuWx2CfeKGalJgUPCaiuxSXFg/formResponse

The online training program is available for one year and can be used whenever it is convenient, but the FREE subsidized applications are available on a first come basis and only until March 15th! Note that you can only have one subsidy per organization. If multiple applications are received, only the first will be approved. If you would like an in-person training in Kingston, please let KAAAV know. They will be in a variety of communities but so far Kingston is not on their list. One of our members has signed up and said the modules can take up to 1.5 hours and there are 10 modules.
