The Conference Committee is pleased to announce two confirmed speakers and their conference sessions!

Against the Odds: Breakdancing, Mental Health, and Volunteers  From his experience building Unity charity from the ground up over 15 years, Michael Prosserman shares his personal story of how he overcame barriers of mental health to creating a national charity that would go on to impact the lives of over 250,000 youth. The story will focus on how volunteers were a key driving force to Unity’s culture and steps to Unity’s success, growth and impact.

Michael is currently the CEO of EPIC Leadership Support Inc., a consulting firm focused on supporting leaders to reach their full potential. Michael serves on the board of directors for several charities and has a strong passion for making the world a better place for us all to live and work.

Set Up Your Team For Success

With 35 years of international experience in both the private and volunteer sectors, Kathleen Douglass will inspire conference attendees to "redefine" how we achieve team success and how that enables us to realize our organizational missions. Through Douglass Leadership Group, Kathleen offers training and development opportunities for not-for-profit, sports and recreation, culture, health care, social services and volunteer based organizations. Over the years, Kathleen has presented at international events and conferences; has worked as a certified trainer for the U.N. Rights of the Child training workshops; held a number of leadership roles on community boards and most recently delivered workshops on the topics of leadership in the Philippines, Vienna, Japan and the US.

 

2.     Ottawa to host the National Conference for Volunteer Engagement Professionals in May 2019

Volunteer Engagement Professionals from across Canada are invited to the LiVE– Leaders in Volunteer Engagement Conference in Ottawa, May 14-16, 2019, under the theme Synergize, Collaboration in Action.

In partnership with Professional Association of Volunteer Leaders-Ontario (PAVRO), Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada (VMPC) and Volunteer Canada, the event will focus on collaboration in a sector that involves 12.7 million volunteers, 44% of Canada’s population.

More details on registration, program and speakers will be announced on the Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada’s (VMPC), Volunteer Canada’s and PAVRO’s websites soon, as well as on twitter @SynergizeOttawa2019, #SynergizeOttawa2019 or #PAVROLiVE2019.
